Starship Troopers anime

Starship Troopers was originally a 1959 sci-fi novel by Robert A. Heinlein.

Most people probably were introduced to the story and its universe through the 1997 movie. While the movie does adapt the Heinlein novel mostly, a lot of the political ideals were tweaked with a script idea from the film’s writer, Ed Neumeier. It was pretty good and quite successful, deriving four sequels. The films further continued in a CGI animated series called Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles, which ran for 40 episodes.

But before all of that, in 1988, there was a six episode anime based on the book that was more directly an adaptation. In fact the series was dedicated to Heinlein who passed away not long before the anime’s premier. 宇宙の戦士, Uchū no Senshi, lit. “Warriors of Space”

The series has never been dubbed in English, but there are English subtitled video, thankfully.
